MEET THE CHEFS: WALDORF ASTORIA GRAND WAILEA RESORT CHEFS
Ryan Urig grew up in Scottsdale, AZ, but after graduating from the Culinary Institute Le Cordon Bleu, he embarked on a career that has spanned the globe. He now calls Grand Wailea his professional home. As executive chef, he oversees nine restaurants and lounges, as well as banquets. Chef Ryan’s passion for fresh local ingredients infuses his dishes with a uniquely Hawaiian flair.
JAMES BEARD FOUNDATION CHEF IRENE SHIANG LI
Irene Shiang Li’s background in organic farming, social justice, and the restaurant line all motivate her blend of creativity, modern techniques, and sustainable practices. After graduating from Cornell University with a BA in Food Systems and Cultural Studies, she received two James Beard Rising Star nominations, and an Eater National Young Gun award. She currently owns and operates the Mei Mei Group, a food truck, restaurant and shipping container enterprise she founded with her two older siblings.
